# Introduction

TL;DR: here is a 30sec video giving a high level overview of Kaichi:&#x20;

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozQNyP8Dmtw>" %}

At Kaichi, we build tools that enable everyone to effortlessly take part in the new economy - an economy driven by tokenization and financialization, where decentralisation and digital ownership prevail.&#x20;

Social consensus, traditionally shaped on web2 platforms by a complex interplay of algorithmic decisions and user interactions, is at Kaichi influenced directly by market forces. Unlike conventional social networks that primarily focus on user engagement metrics, Kaichi introduces a dynamic marketplace where users actively participate in determining the value of content through the exchange of tokens.&#x20;

The market-driven social consensus on Kaichi transforms the platform into a dynamic marketplace of ideas and content.&#x20;

Furthermore, **we align financial incentives between creators and social media platforms**, and offer a fair governance framework as well as a censorship resistant environment for content creation. Key to understanding Kaichi is to consider it a free-market platform.&#x20;

Users can for example:

1. **Tokenise their social capital** by creating their own **supply-controlled token** and monetising their content.&#x20;
2. **Invest in the upside and growth of their favorite creators** by buying and selling the creator’s token depending on how much value the creator provides.
3. **Earn a share of the platform’s revenue** as a consistent cash flow stream from the fees that Kaichi earns, and also from the earnings of each tokens and memecoins that you hold.

### Features

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/oL6E9dxEA9lT2T6xoFhx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

With a decade of trading experience and backgrounds in traditional finance, the founders of Kaichi were clear in their design for the token stack: **transform creator tokens from pump-and-dump schemes into sustainable tokenized models** where both the creator, the token buyer (e.g., follower) and the platform benefit.

The solution is two-fold:

1. **Three token launch presets** are curated to cater to the needs of the creator, brand, or meme coin community. Each preset has its own distribution and, more importantly, its launch mechanism (market making). This guarantees a sustainable bootstrap phase for your token.
2. A **revenue-sharing model** is integrated into all transactions on the platform, powered by the platform's native token, $KAI.

# 3 Token Presets

### Kaichi allows you to mint a token using a token preset that will setup you token supply and distribution parameters automatically.&#x20;

### We offer 3 types of token presets, each curated for a different use case.

To mint a token, you can navigate to your [Monetisation > Token](https://kaichi.xyz/rewards/token/start) where you can select your preferred preset: Creator, Project or Memecoin

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden></th><th data-hidden></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p><strong>Creator Preset</strong></p><p><br>Maximising cashflows</p></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td><a href="/pages/SWv0U7v8MQYYGg2HToac#id-1-creator-preset-supply-controlled-social-token">/pages/SWv0U7v8MQYYGg2HToac#id-1-creator-preset-supply-controlled-social-token</a></td><td><a href="/files/1jgYiynrZe2XA6ColRZ9">/files/1jgYiynrZe2XA6ColRZ9</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Project Preset</strong><br><br>Raising funds for your project</td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td><a href="/pages/SWv0U7v8MQYYGg2HToac#id-2-project-preset-for-crowdfunding">/pages/SWv0U7v8MQYYGg2HToac#id-2-project-preset-for-crowdfunding</a></td><td><a href="/files/qUb6U47rgBPk9zd3WbWh">/files/qUb6U47rgBPk9zd3WbWh</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Memecoin Preset</strong><br><br>Fair launch</td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td><a href="/pages/SWv0U7v8MQYYGg2HToac#id-3-memecoin-preset-supply-controlled-fair-launched-memecoin">/pages/SWv0U7v8MQYYGg2HToac#id-3-memecoin-preset-supply-controlled-fair-launched-memecoin</a></td><td><a href="/files/GX7gdngZfAp28uoqKqZV">/files/GX7gdngZfAp28uoqKqZV</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## #1 CREATOR PRESET (Supply-controlled social token)

On Kaichi, a creator who wants to monetise his/her content becomes **a business owner.** He owns a community, and has to take good care of it. Through our intuitive tools, creators can tokenize their content, **launch supply-controlled tokens,** allowing fans to invest directly in their work and share in the financial rewards.&#x20;

Creator-tokens empower creators to become their own business owners and in a way, link the growth of their fan/audience base directly to financial benefits while ensuring a sufficient balance between creators and users.&#x20;

* In our ecosystem, **you need to earn the right to hold and spend your tokens**. Unlike traditional models where tokens are given upfront or through a vesting schedule, and can then be dumped, **Kaichi requires you to merit your tokens** by achieving specific and objective growth metrics. This merit is earned by nurturing your community and reaching objective milestones. As a result, the focus of a creator should be on genuine engagement and growth, ensuring that his community is strong and supportive before gaining control over more of his tokens.
* **Depending on token holdings, a creator is entitled to a proportionate share of revenue**. This means that the amount of revenue (from your own content sales) you receive **is directly tied to the number of tokens you hold**. Essentially, the more tokens you own, the larger your share of the revenue generated by the platform:
  * If the creator has kept 90% of their token supply, then they will earn directly $90 for every $100 worth of sales they realize on our platform.&#x20;
    * Meanwhile, the tokens are **locked**, so the creator is entitled to the cash flow streams from sales **without being able to rug his community**.
    * This creator is signaling he believes in himself as a business owner, is going to create value, is focused on cash-flow generation, and shares 10% of it with his token holders, $KAI holders, and Kaichi protocol.
    * If the creator has kept 80% of his token supply, then he will earn directly $80 for every $100 worth of sales.&#x20;
    * Token holders, $KAI holders, and Kaichi as a protocol share up to 5% of the revenues.
  * This system incentivizes token creators and holders to acquire and hold onto tokens, as it directly impacts their potential earnings from the platform's revenue. It also makes the choice of the appropriate preset an absolute necessity.
* Anyone who believes in a specific creator's current or future success can choose to support them by purchasing their tokens, democratising crowdfunding in a way.
  * The introduction of token-based mechanisms serves as a novel means for both creators and users to directly communicate their preferences and **assign a tangible value to content, audience & growth**. Kaichi users vote for content not through abstract clicks but actual crypto, staking tokens in people and ideas they wish to see rise.&#x20;
  * It turns superficial likes/comments/shares into substantive financial endorsements, as users can directly sponsor creators by staking crypto, aka tangible value, in their success.

This is plain straight **skin-in-the-game support.**&#x20;

Users and fans can directly invest, support, and benefit from their favourite creators' growth. Simply put we’ve designed this preset so that ***“Your social capital is tokenized and represents your equity on the Solana blockchain.”***

<figure><img src="/files/SzaJT6FtfYsrFZdjXcda" alt=""><figcaption><p>Kaichi creator token split with the Creator preset</p></figcaption></figure>

How the 80% locked equity will be unlocked over time will be determined once our decentralised governance has been initiated. Users themselves should have a say in this, not us. It will be based on merit and objecvtive metrics, but details are to be approved by the community.&#x20;

This preset also has a unique launch mechanism, **to prevent pump and dump schemes** and ensure a sustainable creator token launch!

<figure><img src="/files/hJsYXveiE4F8Bf8QWsgl" alt=""><figcaption><p>Sustainable ICO (Initial Creator Offering) model</p></figcaption></figure>

#### The use cases of the Creator token in summary

Creator tokens are a type of asset that is tied to the reputation of a Kaichi account (an individual, a brand, or a community). They ensure a sufficient balance between the creator and their community and allow for revenue sharing on the revenue generated by that account to its token holders.

Creator tokens can be used for a variety of things. Some use cases might be to allow your followers to access exclusive content, to invest in you, or to simply allow your friends to speculate on your price. Some creators might sell their tokens to raise capital, while others might want to give them away as perks for certain actions.

Your token, your business, your choice!

## #2 PROJECT PRESET (for Crowdfunding)

In the project preset, the user wants to crowdfund for his idea or activity, therefore he should have direct access to most of his tokens (unlocked) so he can sell them in the pool when he needs to fundraise, or distribute them as he wishes. The token holders will also get revenue sharing from trading fees (similar to other presets).&#x20;

The newly minted tokens will be distributed in the following way: &#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/HZIbofmFxNOgTReVPTLu" alt=""><figcaption><p>Creator token distribution for the project preset</p></figcaption></figure>

## #3 MEMECOIN PRESET (Supply-controlled fair launched memecoin)

Kaichi introduces here one of the most **innovative** features in the industry:&#x20;

For each memecoin launched on the platform, nearly **half of the supply will be distributed to active participants in the community helping to support and grow the memecoin's community**. These participants will be able to claim the memecoins directly in their wallet every day. The amounts will be **based on the social activity** that they do **on Kaichi** to push for the memecoin.

The other half of the supply will be put for sale in the liquidity pool (so anyone can purchase them from day 1), ensuring that the creator renounces for the profits and ownership.&#x20;

Finally, there is 4% of the supply that will be distributed to $KAI stakers in the form of a claim. The Kaichi memecoin preset positions $KAI stakers **to get lucky because by staking KAI you benefit from all other users creating popular memecoins.**&#x20;

The newly minted tokens will be distributed in the following way: &#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/J6H1paOpn2tHbv3YOQAy" alt=""><figcaption><p>Creator token distribution for the memecoin preset</p></figcaption></figure>

### Cost and Starting Price

The cost to mint a creator token less than 0.033 SOL (\~$3.5), which covers the blockchain fees for both token minting and pool creation transactions.&#x20;

Every token begins with the same price of $0.00010, but the price changes depending on the supply and demand for the token. The more people buy, the more the price increases, and vice versa.&#x20;

All trading on Kaichi is non-custodial and all users always keep their funds in their wallets at all time.&#x20;

# Trading Pools

## Liquidity Pools&#x20;

In order for people to buy some creator token, we place a portion of them into a liquidity pool which works in 2 phases:

1. **Phase 1** of the user pool is the ICO period where the pool launches with 10 million tokens for sale, and $0 USDC at the beginning (so the pool effectively behaves like 1-sided AMM).&#x20;
   * This type of pool is an [offset-curve pool](https://spl.solana.com/token-swap#offset) on Solana.&#x20;
   * The starting price is $0.00010 per token, and it is the same starting price for every creator token. As people purchase the creator token, they fill up the USDC side of the pool (and remove some creator token supply).&#x20;
   * When the USDC liquidity reaches $1000, the pool transition to a 2 sided-AMM (Phase 2).
2. **Phase 2** of the user pool is when the USDC side of the pool reaches $1000 in liquidity, we transition the pool to a normal 2-sided AMM, which behaves like most DeFi trading platform, and where users can provide extra liquidity to earn trading fees.

<figure><img src="/files/YdICtH8jOyi5ZqsD0vCQ" alt=""><figcaption><p>Overview of the creator token pools on Kaichi</p></figcaption></figure>

Every token begins with the same price of $0.00010, but the price changes depending on the supply and demand for the token. The more people buy, the more the price increases, and vice versa.&#x20;

All trading on Kaichi is non-custodial and all users always keep their funds in their wallets at all time.&#x20;

## Buffered Dynamic Offset Pool

In case some user place large buy order into the pool, and to avoid very large price impact that could be detrimental for them we have designed a new system that acts as an automated OTC provider called the Buffered Dynamic Offset Pool.&#x20;

We know that in crypto people can be quite aggressive in their purchase, for example when a big celebrity launches a token, many users might want to purchase her token with big buy orders, and given the pools start with little supply initially of 10 million tokens, the slippage might hurt them.&#x20;

To solve that we simply add to the initial 10 millions token (Phase 1 during the ICO period) an extra buffer of 40 millions tokens used as an OTC provider for large buy orders, where the price impact pushes the price by more than 10% to provide the users with a better price (getting more tokens for the same amount of USDC) and less slippage — similar to buying via an OTC desk.

The USDC that Kaichi receives from the token sold via the buffer are used to provide liquidity into the pool, therefore making the pool even more liquid and healthier.

Finally, all the USDC earned by the pool and the buffer by the revenue sharing program (as holder of creator token) go directly into the USDC side of the pool. There is no LP token creation so this will increase token price indirectly, rewarding all token holders and provide liquidity to sellers of the creator token.

{% hint style="info" %}
Price impact refers to the impact of a trade on the market, and slippage refers to the difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual price at which it is executed. These two factors can lead to significant losses for traders and can make it challenging to execute large trades.
{% endhint %}

# Business Model & Revenue Sharing

> "When a creator earns revenue from content sales or token trading, Kaichi also reaps the benefits. Subsequently, Kaichi redistributes this income toward all KAI stakers, in addition to the token holders of the respective creator!"

*Let’s take a closer look at how we generate revenue, share revenue and how this is a profitable business model for all stakeholders: the creator, the follower, and Kaichi.*

Both as a platform and as crypto natives, we have found that revenue sharing is one of the best practices to attract and maintain users in web3.. Here is a breakdown of what an average Kaichi user can expect to earn from Kaichi’s revenue sharing program.

**First off, there are multiple revenue streams**&#x20;

* Paid posts fee: Kaichi charges a 5% fee on any content that is paid for. This is when a user pays to unlock a hidden post. Fifty percent of this fee is shared with Kaichi token stakeholders, the other 50% goes to the Kaichi Vault.
* Subscription fee: Kaichi charges a 5% fee on all subscriptions. This is when a user subscribes to a creator’s content. Fifty percent of this fee is shared with Kaichi token stakeholders (on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis), the other 50% goes to the Kaichi Vault.
* Trading fee: Kaichi charges a 5% fee on all trades on the platform. This is when a user buys or sells a Creator or Project token. Fifty percent of this fee is shared with Kaichi token stakeholders, an additional 25% of this fee is given to holders of that Creator/Project token, the other 25% goes to the Kaichi Vault.
* Tipping fee: Kaichi charges a flat fee of $0.10 on each tip on the platform.

{% hint style="info" %}
Example: Bob token generates $100,000 in trading fees for the Kaichi platform. Kaichi token stakers and Bob token holders would receive $50,000 (for stakers) and $25,000 for the Bob holders.
{% endhint %}

**In summary:**

* Kaichi charges 5% fees on paid content and on trading.
* Revenues from fees are always paid in USDC to the KAI stakers & to the token holders of the creator token, project token or memecoin.
* $KAI holders always earn 50% of all the fees the platform generates.

## **Our Revenue Sharing Business Model**

Once creators generate revenue, Kaichi distributes this revenue to the holders of the creator tokens (or memecoins or project tokens) and to the KAI stakers, who can claim these revenues in USDC every day directly in their wallets.

<figure><img src="/files/mjJ1Hob4h0n51oXpivRn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# $KAI Tokenomics

## The KAI Token

The $KAI token is the native coin of the Kaichi ecosystem. The $KAI token is a utility token that will be used for one main purpose:

Users staking $KAI tokens will receive 50% of all the revenues the platform generates from content sales or from Creator token trading.

The Kaichi token follows the SPL token standard on Solana:[ https://spl.solana.com/token](https://spl.solana.com/token)

The mint address will be published after the Token Generation Event (Q2-Q3 2024).

## $KAI Distribution

The total supply of KAI token is limited to 1 billion tokens, which are distributed as follows:

* 55% to the community to fund various airdrops, and launchpads, and to build an incentive program,
* 15% to the team, advisors & strategic partners,
* 15% for private investors,
* 15% is allocated to the strategic reserve as a buffer for a potential Serie A. If such a deal does not materialize in the near future, this allocation will be directed to the community.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/R8Lpa7T7KJA6uxQBr3Bc" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>KAI token distribution</p></figcaption></figure></div>

## **KAI** **Emission Rate & Distribution Schedule**

The vesting schedule is as follows:&#x20;

* **Team members, advisors, and strategic partners** have two separate vesting schedules:
  1. A 3-month cliff followed by an 18-month vesting period, with monthly unlocks for 50% of their allocation.
  2. The remaining 50% of their allocation is subject to vesting based on specific milestones tied to the token's market capitalization.
     * *Incremental Release*: As the token's market capitalization increases and reaches $500 million, $1 billion, $1.5 billion, $2 billion, and $2.5 billion, 2% (by tranche) of the allocated tokens automatically vest and become available. &#x20;
     * *Incentivizing Growth:* This approach incentivizes the team to contribute to the growth and success of the project. As the project becomes more successful and the token's market capitalization increases, the team receives a larger portion of their allocated tokens. &#x20;
     * *Alignment of Interests*: Tying the vesting to market capitalization aligns the interests of the team, and current token holders with the overall success and adoption of the project. The team stays fully motivated to contribute to activities that drive up the value of the token since it directly impacts the unlocking of their vested tokens. &#x20;
* **Alpha Round Investors** have a 3-month cliff and 9-month vesting with monthly unlocks.
* **Private Round Investors** have no cliff and a 6-month vesting period with monthly unlocks.
* **Public Round Investors** have no cliff and no vesting.
* **A strategic reserve** is unlocked and will be either kept for Serie A as a buffer, or distributed to the community.

# Staking on Kaichi

The Staking program will open at the end of the Airdrop farming period, when the KAI token will be created.

### What is Kaichi's Staking Program?

**Kaichi's Staking Program** is a unique rewards system designed to allow anyone staking KAI tokens to profit from the success of the platform. \
On Kaichi, 50% of the revenues generated by the platform will be distributed to KAI stakers directly (pro-rata of their holdings of KAI tokens). These revenues are charged directly in SOL or USDC from the trading fees, subscription fees and fees from others monetization features (fees are set to 5% max). \
Every KAI stakers will be able to claim their earnings (always in SOL or USDC) directly from their earning dashboard, and take part in the success of ANY user on Kaichi, from both small and big influencers, or from the trading of all the memecoins, the KAI stakers will always earn 50% of the revenues.\
On top of that, KAI stakers will receive 4% of the supply of any memecoin created on Kaichi.

### Stake KAI Tokens:

Stake KAI tokens within your Kaichi Staking dashboard in your profile by visiting <https://kaichi.xyz/earn> (page to be deployed)

Staking involves locking up a specific amount of KAI tokens for a predefined period (30 days minimum), enabling users to participate in the staking program.&#x20;

### Claim Rewards  <a href="#why-become-an-scout" id="why-become-an-scout"></a>

Every day you can claim your earned rewards. These rewards are paid in USDC to you. If you don't claim for a day, the rewards will accumulate on your account, until you claim them. These USDC represent 50% of the revenues generated by Kaichi from fees.

KAI stakers will also be able to receive a share of the memecoins created, pro-rata of their KAI stake.

### **Unstake** KAI **tokens**

You can unstake your KAI tokens at anytime, by doing so your KAI tokens will go through a 30 days unlocking period, at the end of which you'll be able to withdraw your tokens into your wallet.&#x20;

# Referral Program

Kaichi allows you to earn revenues if you invite someone that spends money (by purchasing content such as subscriptions or pay-per-view) or by trading any user token on Kaichi.\
Kaichi also allows you to earn revenues if you invite someone that mint a token, and get popular (if people purchase his content, or trade his token).

You'll find below the exact mechanics for each scenario.

## SCENARIO 1: BASE CASE WITHOUT REFERRAL

### Token Minting Split

Bob creates a new creator token: he keeps 90% of the supply (80% locked, 10% unlocked), 5% is sold in the pool, and the remaining 5% are used by Kaichi for the revenue sharing.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/6jfdlgN6wcnXj4rLNANn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Content Purchase

Alice purchases content from Bob (such as a Subscription or Pay-per-view).
All Bob token holders receive a share of the revenue proportional to their holdings.

<figure><img src="/files/rOAOuiGTGoMwbPEgiZ6W" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Trading

When Alice buys or sells any creator token on Kaichi, 5% of trading fees are collected and redistributed.

<figure><img src="/files/7aOU5oQOrVSd5Y6gpLhg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## SCENARIO 2: ALICE INVITES CHARLIE WHO SPENDS MONEY

### Token Minting Split - Unchanged

Bob creates a new creator token: he keeps 90% of the supply (80% locked, 10% unlocked), 5% is sold in the pool, and the remaining 5% are used by Kaichi for the revenue sharing.

<figure><img src="/files/6jfdlgN6wcnXj4rLNANn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Content Purchase: when Charlie spends money, Alice earns some revenues

Now if Charlie purchases content from Bob, then Alice will earn a portion of the revenue as well (because Alice has invited Charlie). The $1.25 that Alice earned are claimable as cash back in USDC to her wallet.

<figure><img src="/files/yEQSdZcMdyngNEuKFgkg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Trading: when Charlie trades, Alice earns some revenues

When Charlie buys or sells any creator token on Kaichi, 5% of trading fees are collected and redistributed.
Alice earns some of these fees too given she has invited Charlie.

<figure><img src="/files/zZ4jUXmPBNrDw1JSScAT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## SCENARIO 3: ALICE INVITES BOB WHO MINTS A TOKEN

### Token Minting Split - Alice will receives half the profit share of the Kaichi Vault

Bob creates a new creator token: he keeps 90% of the supply (80% locked, 10% unlocked), 5% is sold in the pool, and the remaining 5% are shared to KAI stakers, to the Kaichi Vault, and also to Alice (although she can’t access them, only the revenue stream allocated to these tokens will go to Alice).

<figure><img src="/files/sbUE3uNs8WjDywVAz6vZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Content Purchase: when someone spends money on Bob, Alice earns some revenues

Now if Charlie purchases content from Bob, then Alice will earn a portion of the revenue as well (because Alice has invited Bob, so if Bob is a successful creator, Alice will earn a lot of referral fees). The $1.25 that Alice earned are claimable as cash back in USDC to her wallet.

<figure><img src="/files/9rhzhDZ89bJL1BJyyfX6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Trading: when someone trades Bob’s token, Alice earns some revenues

When Charlie (or anyone) buys or sells Bob’s token on Kaichi, 5% of trading fees are collected and redistributed.
Alice earns some of these fees too given she has invited Bob and get a share of his token’s trading revenue.

<figure><img src="/files/DHH3lSv02OpSyxy50uuw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## SCENARIO 4: ALICE INVITES BOB AND CHARLIE

### Token Minting Split - Alice will receives half the profit share of the Kaichi Vault

Bob creates a new creator token: he keeps 90% of the supply (80% locked, 10% unlocked), 5% is sold in the pool, and the remaining 5% are shared to KAI stakers, to the Kaichi Vault, and also to Alice (although she can’t access them, the revenue stream allocated to these tokens will go to Alice).

<figure><img src="/files/Bz63SjcC2nd2fiseoA6e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Content Purchase: when someone spends money on Bob or when Charlie spends money, Alice earns some revenues

If anyone purchases content from Bob, then Alice will earn a portion of the revenue as well (because Alice has invited Bob, so if Bob is a successful creator, Alice will earn a lot of referral fees).

And if Charlies spends money on anyone, then Alice will earn a portion of the revenue as well (because Alice has invited Charlies, so if Charlie is a high spender, Alice will earn a lot of referral fees).&#x20;

The $1.25 that Alice earned are claimable as cash back in USDC to her wallet.

<figure><img src="/files/3sdtS2aWhw5beKKX5Kzb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Trading: when someone trades Bob’s token, or when Charlie makes a trade, Alice earns some revenues

When anyone buys or sells Bob’s token on Kaichi, 5% of trading fees are collected and redistributed.

Alice earns some of these fees too given she has invited Bob and get a share of his token’s trading revenue.

Plus when Charlie makes a trade, a portion of the trading fees are also distributed to Alice because she invited Charlie.

# Our Why

With the creator economy about to double in addressable market value up to [almost 500B](https://www.goldmansachs.com/intelligence/pages/the-creator-economy-could-approach-half-a-trillion-dollars-by-2027.html)(!) in the next few years, it is clear that social platforms should become an accelerant for human creativity, not an inhabitant. In other words: platforms should be supporting creators to become effortless business owners making serious revenue. That said, at Kaichi, we’ve built a platform with a clear purpose: Empowering social media content creators to monetize their content and build meaningful connections with their audience.&#x20;

### Monetization accelerates human creativity

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, new relationships can be established between platforms, brands/creators, and their followers through the use of digital assets and tokenization. New economic models enabled by tokenization are now more possible than ever before. While traditional markets will persist, this new economy allows users to join a brand's community by owning a part of the business, or "getting skin in the game". But more importantly, it's an economy where creators can become **seriously profitable entities**, enabling them to accelerate their creativity.

> “We can do better. The internet should be an accelerant for human creativity and authenticity, not an inhibitor. A market structure with millions of profitable niches, enabled by blockchain networks, makes this possible. With fairer revenue sharing, more users will find their true callings, and more creators will reach their true fans.”\
> \- Chris Dixon, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz<br>

# What went wrong in the first place?

## The memecoin dilemma

Recently, some celebrities and content creators have decided to launch their own memecoins, distribute them for free, and push for adoption by their communities. However, what exactly motivates the creator to give away their social capital for free, apart from the prospect of quick profit?&#x20;

Most of the time, whenever a celebrity launches a memecoin, it results in short-term value extraction at the expense of the community. In other words, it's a trend towards zero.

Additionally, what exactly motivates the crypto industry to invest in such tokens?&#x20;

Memecoin investors bet on various factors: community growth and associated culture, scarcity, exclusivity, speculative hype, utility beyond memes for some, and brand association.

These elements can certainly drive up the token's value, but in the long term, memecoins remain valueless, and only a few select candidates manage to gather enough "cult" following to endure the proof of time.

Among other criticisms, we note that current solutions exhibit three core challenges.

<br>

# Current challenges of social platforms

* **Unfair Take Rates:** Traditional social platforms capture $300 billion of revenue per year. Almost all of that goes to the platforms and not to the creators. Think about it like this: What if OnlyFans was capturing 99% of the revenues, instead of 20%. This is the usual model creators experience from platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. And even when the take rates are somewhat better like YouTube with a take rate of 50% there’s another problem with the leading social platforms;
* **Audience can’t be an actual shareholder:** As a creator, your audience can’t participate in, sponsor, or profit from your growth. In the new enabled economy where digital ownership and decentralisation prevail, we should enable fans to get skin in the game of the creator and finally;
* **The existing model is largely dependent on advertising:** most social media platforms heavily rely on this type of internet business model. However, a new economic model involving micro payments could change this dynamic. This would allow consumers to pay for the content they value, offering a viable alternative to the advertising-based model. Such a shift would address issues related to user privacy and overall platform quality.

{% hint style="info" %}
In summary, the alignment of incentives between the creator, the audience, and the platform is currently at its lowest and no platform is offering creators a way to sustainably launch their token and become profitable revenue generating entities. **This is exactly the reason why we’ve created Kaichi.**

# Governance

The Kaichi governance will be managed by a council of experts voting on strategic decisions for the platform.&#x20;

The council will be made of:&#x20;

* Users from the community (non-whales/influencers, just smaller but active users),
* Investors of Kaichi,
* Influencers (users that also have a big follower base on other networks),
* Team members of Kaichi

This decision to decentralise our governance without letting it completely in the hands of large token holders is to diversify opinions of various actors involved in the Kaichi ecosystem. We believe small and active users should have a say in the platform they use everyday, similarly to token holders, influencers and team members.

We'll hold elections for the members of council once every 6 months and the council will meet once a quarter to vote on decisions such as:&#x20;

* decisions on censorship/moderation, when to remove hate speech or child porn
* fees and split of commission rate among users, stakers and Kaichi itself
* which feature the team should focus on next (eg. subscriptions, EVM-compatibility, AI integrations etc)
* partnership proposals (for co-marketing with other communities, or integrations of their tools)

# Content Moderation

The primary purpose of Kaichi is to let the world share content and ideas in an open manner, within a complete monetization "friendly" frameword, without being canceled or censored (both by web2 platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter or Spotify, but also by oppressive regimes and dictatorships).

We want people to interact better together, and by promoting freedom of speech, we therefore increase **trust** between people.

However, online - and especially in crypto - many users prefer to remain anonymous and therefore could take more liberty to act or communicate aggressively and recklessly, without worrying about the consequences they could create.&#x20;

Therefore moderation is very important to keep these online forums healthy, civil, and welcoming.

Although we maintain the site, Kaichi is primarily a community we are building together, and we need your help to make it the best it can be.

### **How it works**

#### Moderation/Sensitivity Preferences

You can determine what content is right (or wrong) for you. Select the level of sensitive content you’re willing to see below.

You have three levels of content sensitivity:&#x20;

* Level 1 – Safespace/Show me only verified and approved content.
* Level 2 – Thick skin/Do not show me reported content.
* Level 3 – Madmax/Bring it on! Show me even reported content.

Note:

* This only filters content from accounts you don’t follow, like search results or trending content.
* You’ll still see everything from the accounts you follow.
* Sensitive content doesn’t go against our community guidelines and isn’t illegal, but refers to topics some people don’t want to see, such as certain violence, drugs, or nudity.

#### Upvote/Downvote Someone's content

For content that users like or don't like, they can simply use the Upvote and Downvote buttons. With fewer upvotes and more downvotes, there is a higher chance that this content will not appear in Discover Feed.&#x20;

#### Content Reporting

Any content that is considered to be illegal or goes against the guidelines can be reported by any users using the platform (please note that reports should only be for very bad content you never want to see).&#x20;

Content that is viewed and reported organically could trigger its removal from Kaichi’s centralized server and the IPFS nodes, and encourage users to stop broadcasting it.

This V1 of the moderation is operated by some members of our team (who need to sign transactions to authenticate and access the moderation dashboard), and they'll only moderate content that is illegal.

#### Users muting function

You can mute other users (by reporting a post or muting the user directly). When muting someone you won't see his/her posts and comments anymore.

##

## Moderation Mechanics

For content that users like or don't like, they can simply use the Upvote and Downvote buttons.

For content that is illegal and goes against the guidelines set by the community, they can use the Report button.

Content that is viewed and reported organically could trigger its removal from our centralized server and IPFS nodes, and encourage users to stop broadcasting it.

However, this doesn't delete the content. If the content creator (or his friends and community) think this content is important, and should remain visible, they can continue to pin it on their own IPFS nodes and continue to broadcast it. Though it should be broadcast at a slower bandwidth.

## Moderation Guidelines

### Rationale

Kaichi acknowledges how vital it is for our users to be in a place where people are empowered to communicate, and where everyone can share and speak their minds. We believe in freedom of expression, we believe that each of us has principles to live by and that there is unity in diversity. The community will serve as the moderator, giving all the power to report, hide, or downvote any bad content.&#x20;

The main purpose of creating these guidelines is to ensure a standard of behavior expected in the platform and create a safe environment for users to interact and have fun. Although Kaichi is permissionless, we agree that there are some universal things that we need to obey to thrive, thus Kaichi proposes these policies.

### Violent Extremism

Kaichi aims to hamper potential harm that may be related to posting inappropriate content on the platform. We respect and believe that each of us has its own principles that we live by. Although the core value of this platform is freedom of speech, that does not warrant that you can post content that could inflict harm or call out to incite violence. When warranted, we will work with law enforcement when we see that there’s a threat of physical harm to public safety. To determine whether the threat was credible, we may also consider additional information available on other platforms like a person's public visibility and the risks to their physical safety.

#### Do not post:

* Content or aspirational statement that calls out and encourages people to commit violence
* Statements with the purpose of inflicting harm to an individual or a group
* Encouraging people to bring weapons to a specified location to intimidate or threaten someone or a group with violence
* Content that instructs an individual or group to make an armament with the intent to incite violence

# P2P Direct Messaging

This article presents an overview of Kaichi's revolutionary Direct Message (DM) feature, emphasizing its decentralized nature, end-to-end encryption, and user-centric data ownership. Kaichi leverages the IPFS network and Solana blockchain to ensure secure and private messaging while empowering users to retain control over their own data. The concept of "PrivateLog" further decentralizes the messaging system, providing users with full ownership of their data. Additionally, the implementation of [Gossipsub](https://github.com/libp2p/specs/tree/master/pubsub/gossipsub) and [Messaging Layer Security (MLS)](https://messaginglayersecurity.rocks/) will enable scalability and enhanced group messaging capabilities. This post delves into the technical aspects of these features, highlighting the advantages they offer in terms of security, scalability, and data sovereignty.

## Introduction <a href="#introduction" id="introduction"></a>

Kaichi's DM feature introduces a paradigm shift in the world of communication platforms. Each user is uniquely identified by their IPNS address, derived directly from their Solana wallet. Messages are encrypted within the user's browser, transmitted through the IPFS network, and relayed across various nodes. The recipient retrieves the messages using their IPNS address and decrypts them using their Solana wallet signature, ensuring end-to-end encryption and secure message transmission.

## The Mechanism of Decentralized Messaging <a href="#the-mechanism-of-decentralized-messaging" id="the-mechanism-of-decentralized-messaging"></a>

The mechanism of Kaichi's DM hinges on the innovative integration of several technologies, including IPFS, IPNS, and Gossipsub. The system encrypts messages on the user's local browser before transmitting them via the IPFS network, which routes the encrypted messages through several nodes. The recipient subsequently listens to the IPFS network through various nodes to receive messages addressed to their IPNS address using Gossipsub, a publish/subscribe protocol.

Gossipsub's role in this system is vital for message propagation and handling. It operates on the basis of 'gossip,' where nodes randomly select a few other nodes and send them their message information. The selected nodes then repeat the process, rapidly disseminating the message across the network. By ensuring quick and robust propagation, Gossipsub mitigates common issues associated with network instability and node failures, and enables seamless communication between users while maintaining data integrity and security.

## End-to-End Encryption and Decentralization <a href="#end-to-end-encryption-and-decentralization" id="end-to-end-encryption-and-decentralization"></a>

The defining advantages of Kaichi's DM feature are its end-to-end encryption and decentralization. Unlike traditional messaging systems that rely on central servers, the Kaichi DM system leverages the decentralized IPFS network. This approach removes the necessity of trust in a central authority and ensures that messages remain private, accessible only by the sender and the intended recipient.

## Scalability: The Messaging Layer Security (MLS) Approach <a href="#scalability-the-messaging-layer-security-mls-approach" id="scalability-the-messaging-layer-security-mls-approach"></a>

Scalability, a paramount concern in communication systems, is addressed in Kaichi's DM feature through the integration of [Messaging Layer Security (MLS)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messaging_Layer_Security). Unlike conventional encryption methods that cap group DMs at a maximum number of around 100 users, MLS can accommodate group DMs with hundreds of thousands of users. This leap in scalability is achieved through a continuous group key agreement protocol where updates to the group's key are made independently by members and securely propagated to the group.

## PrivateLog: A Unique Feature of Kaichi <a href="#privatelog-a-unique-feature-of-solcial" id="privatelog-a-unique-feature-of-solcial"></a>

A distinctive element of Kaichi's DM feature is the "PrivateLog", used to increase the decentralization and ownership of user data within the DM feature. In this design, users write encrypted messages to their personal 'outbox' inside a private log and notify the recipient of new messages via pubsub events. To read the messages, the recipient merges their private log with the sender's outbox log, effectively reconstructing the conversation without requiring a central server. Each user retains ownership of their data, by distributing encrypted payloads across the IPFS network, ensuring message persistence and retrieval efficiency through multiple node relays and IPFS pinning service providers.

## IPFS: InterPlanetary File System <a href="#ipfs-interplanetary-file-system" id="ipfs-interplanetary-file-system"></a>

The [InterPlanetary File System (IPFS)](https://ipfs.tech/) is a protocol designed to create a permanent and decentralized method of storing and sharing data. In contrast to traditional file-sharing methods, IPFS uses a distributed file system that connects all computing devices with the same system of files, minimizing the potential for data loss and ensuring optimal data availability.

## Future Directions <a href="#future-directions" id="future-directions"></a>

The future development of Kaichi's DM feature includes enabling multiple Solana wallets to share a single IPNS key with distinct signatures. This capability would allow users to send DMs from different devices, such as desktops or mobile phones, by recovering the encryption key and IPNS publication and signing the messages with the corresponding Solana wallet. This multi-device support enhances user flexibility and convenience while maintaining the underlying security and ownership principles.

## Comparative Analysis: Kaichi DM vs. Existing Messaging Platforms <a href="#comparative-analysis-solcial-dm-vs-existing-messaging-platforms" id="comparative-analysis-solcial-dm-vs-existing-messaging-platforms"></a>

<figure><img src="/files/jpVXNQfHFFz3mhBRnPCN" alt=""><figcaption><p>Overview of Kaichi's messaging feature to other messaging platforms</p></figcaption></figure>

While assessing Kaichi's DM feature in relation to established messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Keybase, WeChat, and Discord, distinct differences surface, highlighting the unique advantages and potential limitations inherent to its design.

## 1. Advantages of Kaichi DM <a href="#id-1-advantages-of-solcial-dm" id="id-1-advantages-of-solcial-dm"></a>

### **Decentralization:**

Unlike centralized platforms such as WhatsApp, WeChat, and Discord, which rely on servers for message relay and storage, Kaichi's DM feature employs a decentralized model using IPFS and IPNS. This ensures no single point of failure or control, enhancing privacy and data integrity.

### **Scalability:**

Kaichi outperforms platforms like Signal in scalability due to its implementation of Messaging Layer Security (MLS), which allows group conversations to scale up to hundreds of thousands of users. This contrasts with Signal's double ratchet encryption which supports a maximum of 100 users in group chats.

### **End-to-end Encryption:**

While platforms like WhatsApp and Signal also offer end-to-end encryption, Kaichi augments this feature by providing users with a unique "PrivateLog" functionality. Users write encrypted messages to their own private logs, and distribute their data themselves via the IPFS network, truly embodying data ownership.

### **Interoperability:**

Unlike most traditional platforms, Kaichi plans to enable multiple devices sharing the same IPNS key but signing with different Solana wallets. This will facilitate seamless messaging across devices while maintaining secure encryption.

## 2. Potential Limitations of Kaichi DM <a href="#id-2-potential-limitations-of-solcial-dm" id="id-2-potential-limitations-of-solcial-dm"></a>

### **Usability:**

Given its advanced decentralized technology, new users to Kaichi might initially find its interface and functionality less intuitive compared to the straightforward design of platforms like WhatsApp or WeChat.

### **Dependence on Solana Wallet:**

Kaichi's DM feature requires a Solana wallet for login and key derivation. This dependence may present a barrier for users unfamiliar with blockchain wallets.

## 3. Conclusion <a href="#id-3-conclusion" id="id-3-conclusion"></a>

In conclusion, Kaichi's DM offers a groundbreaking approach to messaging by focusing on decentralization, scalability, and user data ownership. Although facing challenges typical for any new technology, it presents promising potentials that can redefine the way we perceive and own our digital communication.

## Private Group Chats for Token Holders

When you buy someone's on Kaichi, not only you are economically incentivised in their success, but you will also have access to a private group chat with the other token holders of that user.

This allows for more interactions with users of the same interests, on top of also being economically invested in that account.

These group chats aren't decentralised like 1-to-1 direct messages at the moment, for user-experience reasons, to ensure the group chat dynamic is as fast as group chats of web2 platform. We will continue our tests and hope to decentralise this feature soon too.

# Kaichi Wallet

The Kaichi wallet is a non-custodial wallet that allows for seamless usage within the platform and enables transfers to any Solana wallet.&#x20;

One of its key benefits is the convenience it offers, as it eliminates the need for signing each transaction, a requirement when using external Solana wallets.

Upon creating an account with a Kaichi wallet, users are given a seed phrase. This phrase not only facilitates account access but also allows for the transfer of the Kaichi wallet to other Solana wallets (for example importing your Kaichi wallet to Phantom or Solflare). It's important to note that we do not store your seed phrase, only you have access to your seed phrase or your private key.

To back up your Kaichi wallet by obtaining your seed phrase and private key, navigate to "Settings," then select "Privacy and Security," and finally choose "Seed Phrase Backup".

Kaichi wallets are non-custodial: Our users have complete control over their assets and their private keys.&#x20;

This means that a user is responsible for securing their cryptocurrency and ensuring that their private keys or seed phrase are safe.&#x20;

### How to export your Kaichi wallet to Phantom or Solflare

Users can also export their Kaichi wallet to another wallet provider if they wish, for that they can visit Settings > Privacy & Security > Seedphrase Back-up: <https://kaichi.xyz/settings/security>

Then copy their private key, and go to Phantom (or any other Solana wallet), and import a new wallet using the private key.&#x20;

All your crypto and user tokens will be there, with their names and avatars!

# Creating your Token

On Kaichi, users have the opportunity to launch their own token, with [3 different presets: creator, project or memecoins.](/essentials/3-token-presets)

If you are ready to monetize your content, go to **Monetization > Create my Token.** Kaichi will automatically mint you a billion user tokens, allocate them in various buckets according to the preset you previously opted for, and create your token trading pool.

And remember that all users that hold your token have **access to a private group** chat with you, and fellow token holders.

All user tokens are standard [SPL tokens on Solana ](https://spl.solana.com/token)and are **inter-operable** across the whole Solana ecosystem. Your personal user tokens represent your own social market cap, and people who are interested in you for whatever reason might be interested in investing in your token.&#x20;

**Each user always has 1 billion tokens minted, and the initial price of a user token is $0.00010 for everyone.**

# Publishing Content

To publish content on Kaichi you can have the option to **select various levels of privacy and monetization:**&#x20;

* **Public posts** are free to view, and public to anyone.
* **Paid posts** can be viewed only to people that either:
  * Make a **one-time payment** (for example $2 USDC to access a single post), called **Pay-per-View**.
  * **Subscribe** to you (for example $29/month). Subscribers can always view all your paid posts.

The images and videos are uploaded on the IPFS network when you make a post. The videos are also encoded directly on the client-side (on your computer), to ensure that they are not modified or altered by anyone.

Text posts can be published on the Solana blockchain itself (to ensure maximum censorship resistance), however this has a cost to the user (in SOL, for the blockchain transaction fee). The exact cost depends on the size of the content you're posting. The longer the text, the more expensive the cost.

# Private Messages (DM)

Users have the ability to send each-other direct messages (DM), these 1-to-1 DM are fully encrypted & decentralised, to the point where Kaichi is one of the most private way to discuss with with someone.&#x20;

This technical feature is explained in more details [under the P2P Direct Messaging article](/deepdive/p2p-direct-messaging).

<figure><img src="/files/jpVXNQfHFFz3mhBRnPCN" alt=""><figcaption><p>Comparing Kaichi's DM with other messaging apps</p></figcaption></figure>

Group chats on the other end are less decentralised for the time being. However this will change in the future.

Group chats members are restricted only to the holders of the user token.&#x20;

For example if you hold the tokens BOBBY, ALICE and PUSSYCAT, you'll have access to 3 group chats: one group chat with the token holders of the BOBBY token (and with Bobby himself), one with the holders of the ALICE token, and one with the holders of the PUSSYCAT token.<br>

# Content & Feeds

On Kaichi, you have the flexibility to create various types of posts such as text-based entries, images, videos, posts with polls, and extensive articles that can incorporate all these elements in a single post.

All media content on Kaichi is hosted on IPFS, and text-based content can also be published directly on the Solana blockchain.&#x20;

### Types of posts on Kaichi

On Kaichi, you have the flexibility to create various types of posts, such as text-based entries, images, videos, posts with polls, and extensive articles that can incorporate all these elements in a single post.

#### Posts with images

You can attach up to 10 images to every post. You can also add inline images inside of your posts. You can use our [Markdown Guidelines](/getting-started/markdown-guidelines) to learn how to do this.&#x20;

#### Posts with videos&#x20;

Anyone can post videos that are limited for now of max 10 minutes long, and max 10 videos per user per hour.&#x20;

All the encoding and compressing are done in a decentralized way on your local devices directly. This system makes sure the content is not altered by the platform.&#x20;

To give some stats about the speed, the compression is running at about:

• 2x for a video of 576p 25fps (so a 10min video will take 5min to encode and compress)

• 1x for a video of 720p 25fps (so a 10min video will take 10min to encode and compress)

• 0.5x for a video of 1080p 25fps (so a 10min video will take 20min to encode and compress)

• 0.24x for a video of 1080p 60fps (so a 10min video will take 40min to encode and compress)

#### Articles

You can post long articles, similar to Medium or Substack, with full markdown editing, in-line images, etc. You can check the [Markdown Guidelines guide](https://www.markdownguide.org/cheat-sheet/) to learn how you can format your articles. Articles are not limited in size so you can make them as long as you need.

#### Publishing Content on the Solana Blockchain

To post content onchain, you can tick the "Post on Solana" box in the posting menu. You'll be guided and have an estimated price for the transaction fee to pay (depending on the size of your content), then you can sign a transaction (if you're logged-in with an external wallet), or click on "Confirm" directly to post the content onchain.&#x20;

The page may reload to display the post properly, with the link to the blockchain explorer corresponding to your post.

<figure><img src="/files/krRnzro3PXp9BsZl2HFX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/fojhV6QKg5lr6z67vASp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### NSFW Posts (Not-Safe-For-Work)&#x20;

You can use the NSFW button to blur images that you think may be inappropriate for particular users.

### Kaichi Feeds

On Kaichi, content is displayed in Feeds, of which there are two types: the Discover Feed and My Feed.

* **The Discover Feed** showcases posts from all users, with the most trending content initially appearing at the top of this feed.
* **My Feed**, on the other hand, is your landing page. It is a personalised feed where you can view posts from users you follow in an historical order only (this feed isn't altered by any sort of algorithm, only showing the posts of people you follow in the order in which they are posted).

#### Trending Posts

* Gaining visibility through trending posts on Kaichi can significantly boost your follower count, token ownership, and overall audience growth. &#x20;
* To have your post appear in the trending category, focus on creating content that resonates and engages your audience. If you're new and don't yet have an audience, consider connecting with existing Kaichi users by engaging with their content.&#x20;
* You can invite them to check out your page, invest in your token, and establish a connection with you. Our internal algorithm not only filters for genuine trending posts (beyond mere spam likes) but also encourages experimentation with your posts. While trending is an effective way to expand your audience, it's not the only method, but it certainly is beneficial.
* The ranking of posts in the trending section is influenced by the level of activity they receive, including upvotes, reposts, and comments.

#### Posts Filter System&#x20;

* All public posts are also organised by topics, and languages (powered by AI) with improved Filters on the Discover Page. &#x20;
* This allows you to refine your searches and easily find the content that interests you the most.&#x20;
* Not only you can sort by Trending, Newest, and Most Upvoted posts. We've expanded the sorting functionality to include popular Languages (with a promise to widen this list over time) and popular Categories.

# Download Apps

Please find below the different ways to install our app on your phone. The reason why we recommend PWA or APK apps is that Apple or Google could censor some of our features (they have in the past, and could do so again in the future), and restrict you from using Kaichi to its full potential. The PWA and APK methods effectively bypass the app stores censorship, and allow you to install any software you want on your phone (as you should).

# FAQ

## User Tokens

### What is a user token?&#x20;

A user token (or sometimes called creator token) is the token that every user can create when they join Kaichi in order to monetise their content.&#x20;

It represents their unique brand or social capital. Every token has a price and market cap. Think of the user token as a ‘social market cap’. Users or creators can as a result monetize their content, and let their fans become owners in their success. Tokens can be linked to exclusive content.&#x20;

### How many tokens do I have?&#x20;

When minting your creator token, there are a total of 1,000,000,000 (one billion) tokens minted. This number is the same for every user. The distribution depends on the presets chosen.&#x20;

### What are my tokens worth?&#x20;

Every user begins with the same token price of $0.00010, but the price will change depending on the demand for the token. To put it simply, your tokens will be worth what the market decides. Like most things, as your brand value grows, so will your token.

### Should I hold or should I sell my token?

That’s entirely up to you, these coins are yours. But we recommend taking a measured approach. You should view these tokens as your ‘social equity’ in a way.&#x20;

If you see yourself as an entrepreneur, you will understand that most entrepreneurs don’t want to sell much of their equity early on, when it's the cheapest. They just want to sell a bit of equity early on to raise enough money to grow their business, and keep most of their equity for themselves for selling later when the price will have increased drastically.&#x20;

It’s the same here with your user token, you probably want to sell only a small portion of your token to cover your costs and also to get a feel for the demand from the market.&#x20;

### How does a creator token relate to my business?

On Kaichi, a creator who wants to monetise his content becomes a business owner.&#x20;

Kaichi unlocks the asset-value potential of audience networks by assigning creator followers tangible representation through a crypto-token. Through our proprietary tools, creators can tokenize their content, allowing fans to invest directly in their work and share in the financial rewards.&#x20;

Creator-tokens empower creators to become their own business owners (1) and in a way, link the growth of their fan/audience base directly to financial benefits (2).&#x20;

Depending on token holdings, a creator is entitled to a proportionate share of revenue. This means that the amount of revenue (from your own sales) you receive is directly tied to the number of tokens you hold. Essentially, the more tokens you own, the larger your share of the revenue generated by the platform:

If the creator has kept 90% of his token supply, then he will earn directly $90 for every $100 worth of sales he realizes on our platform. This creator is signaling he believes in himself as a business owner, is going to create value, is focused on cash flow generation, and shares 10% of it with his own token holders, $KAI holders, and Kaichi protocol.&#x20;

If the creator has kept 80% of his token supply, then he will earn directly $80 for every $100 worth of sales. Token-holders, $KAI holders, and Kaichi as a protocol share up to 20% of the revenues.&#x20;

This system incentivizes token creators and holders to acquire and hold onto tokens, as it directly impacts their potential earnings from the platform's revenue. It also makes the choice of the appropriate preset an absolute necessity. &#x20;

Anyone who believes in a specific creator's current or future success can choose to support them by purchasing their tokens, democratising crowdfunding in a way.&#x20;

The introduction of token-based mechanisms serves as a novel means for both creators and users to directly communicate their preferences and assign a tangible value to content, audience & growth. Kaichi users vote for content not through abstract clicks but actual crypto, staking tokens in people and ideas they wish to see rise.&#x20;

It turns superficial likes/comments/shares into substantive financial endorsements, as users can directly sponsor creators by staking crypto, aka tangible value, in their success.&#x20;

This is plain straight skin-in-the-game support. Users and fans can directly invest, support, and benefit from their favourite creators' growth.&#x20;

### What currencies can I use to purchase creator tokens?

You can use USDT, USDC, SOL or KAI to buy any creator token. To buy or sell someone’s token, you can simply navigate to the profile of the user on Kaichi and swap KAI, USDT, USDC, or SOL to the creator token through the Swap component on the right of the profile.&#x20;

Another feature available to you is the ability to send creator tokens to any Solana address (either using your Kaichi wallet, or by using any external wallet you signed-up with).&#x20;

### What are Creator tokens useful for?

Creator tokens are a type of asset that is tied to the reputation of a Kaichi account (an individual or a brand, or community), but also allows for revenue sharing on the revenue generated by that account to its token holders.

Creator tokens can be used for a variety of things. Some use cases might be to allow your followers to access exclusive content, to invest in you, or to simply allow your friends to speculate on your price. Some creators might sell their tokens to raise capital, while others might want to give them away as perks for certain actions.

Your token, your business, your choice.

### What should I post to increase my token price?&#x20;

Anything that you think is valuable to your audience, that people will be interested in, and could lead them to buy more of your token.

### How can I cash out?&#x20;

The revenues from your content sales (subscriptions and pay-per-view) go directly into your wallet when you claim them.&#x20;

For your tokens, if you sell some of your tokens in your pool, you will be able to receive USDC in return. For example, you can sell your JOE tokens in the JOE/USDC pool, and you will then cash out some JOE for USDC. Note that selling pressure may cause your token price to decrease.

Regarding your rewards coming from the revenue-sharing program, you have to claim them in your rewards dashboard: <https://kaichi.xyz/rewards&#x20>;

### No one is buying my tokens. What should I do?&#x20;

You need to build your audience, and offer more value to your fanbase/community.

### What if I have sold all my tokens?

If you have sold all your tokens, that means you’ve probably made good money already. People can still continue to buy your tokens to access your private group chat, except that they’ll buy the tokens that others are selling (not yours anymore).&#x20;

If you want to stay invested in yourself, you could consider rebuying your own token on the market directly.

### What if my competitors buy all my tokens?

If someone buys all of your tokens, that means that:&#x20;

1/ you offered all your tokens for sale, instead of keeping the majority of it, and&#x20;

2/ that this person is spending a significant amount of money on you directly.&#x20;

It's difficult to see why competitors would give you money and increase your token price, but if that’s the case and if you sold all your tokens by mistake (or potentially sent them to another wallet by mistake), you could consider either rebuying your tokens on the market (from others, if they’re selling them), or simply recreating a new account (with a new token), but your community will have to follow you on that new account, and purchase that new token, which they might not be willing to.

### Can I give my tokens away for free?&#x20;

Yes. You can simply send your tokens to anyone (user tokens are SPL tokens on the Solana blockchain, so you can send them to any Solana address (also called PublicKey)).

### How is the initial token price formed?

Every user starts with a token price of $0.00010, the price then varies according to user demand. For example, if there is no trading for one’s particular token, then the price will stay the same. If people buy a token, its price will increase, and vice versa.

## Subscriptions and Private Feeds

### How to se tup my subscription and pay-per-view price?&#x20;

If you have created a user token, you will be able to set up your monetisation options in your settings (under Monetisation). You will have to enter a short description about you and the content you plan to offer to your subscribers, and the amount of USDC they need to spend each month to access your private content.

### How do subscriptions work?&#x20;

The subscription payments from your followers will be  locked into a wallet, and you'll be able to claim the payments from your subscribers at any time (whenever they pay your subscription or pay-per-view price), the amount you'll receive will be pro-rata to the number of user tokens you hold.&#x20;

Users subscribing to you will pay upfront the full amount corresponding to the duration they wish to subscribe for. For example they can pay 1 month worth or subscription, or 10 months right away, it's up to them. And the money spent will be claimable by you and your token holders within 24 hours.

If you later change your subscription price, the current subscribers will remain subscribed.

People subscribing to you, or purchasing your one-off pay-per-view fee will be able to view your paid private posts.

### How often can I claim my rewards?

If you own a user token (like an influencer token) you can claim the rewards associated from the fees each day (these rewards are in USDC or SOL). If you don't claim for some time, then your rewards accumulate until you claim them.

If you stake KAI tokens, you will also earn rewards from various fees (paid in USDC, SOL) and you'll also receive some Memecoin airdrops. And similarly you can claim these rewards each day otherwise they simply accumulate under your account.

### Can I cancel a subscription I paid for?&#x20;

No, the payments are onchain and final, we cannot revert them. Once you are subscribed to someone, you'll remain subscribed for as long as you paid for.

## Referrals

### How does the Referrals and Rewards program work?&#x20;

Each user gets 5 referral codes when they join. These codes can be shared with others who might want to join Kaichi. Once someone you invited signs up with your referral code, you will earn 2.5% of their trading fees. These rewards will be claimable on your Kaichi account’s wallet page.

### How can we get more referral codes?&#x20;

To earn more referral codes, you can post quality content that gets upvoted, or attract new followers to your account. The exact parameters are currently not public (to avoid people trying to game the system), but the idea is that the better your content is, the more of a thought leader you might be, therefore the more people you’ll be able to invite. Also, as more people follow you the potential to generate more referral codes increases.

### How are the rewards calculated for people we invite?&#x20;

You earn 2.5% of the fees paid by your invitees. For example, if someone you invite trades for $1000 of user tokens, he will pay 5% trading fees to Kaichi (which is $1000 x 5% = $50), and you will earn 2.5% of this fee, which is $50 x 2.5% = $1.25. The rewards are claimable in USDC.

### What is the limit of invites you can get?&#x20;

There is no limit at present.

## Creating your account - What you need to know&#x20;

On Kaichi your token represents your market cap. Even if you are not a creator or looking to earn money on Kaichi you will still have the option to be minted a token when you create an account. These are your tokens and you have full control over them. This is why you need to connect or create a wallet to join as each token is in your personal wallet.

## Minting your token:

The minting process is relatively straightforward. Here are the 4 easy steps to mint your user token.

#### 1. Connect or create your wallet.

a. Kaichi does not gain or retain your password or seed phrase when you connect your wallet. This might be an existing Phantom wallet or any other Solana based wallet.

b. If creating a new Kaichi wallet make sure to store your seed phrases somewhere safe (writing them down on paper is preferred)

#### 2. Choose a username

a. This is similar to other social networks. Your username is what will be displayed to access your account on the platform.

#### 3. Choose a ticker symbol for your token.

a. This is similar to Bitcoin having the ticker BTC or Solana being SOL or Kaichi being KAI.

b. Try and choose something unique but recognizable as your ticker. If your username is MoonShot then maybe a ticker of MOON might fit.

c. We advise making the ticker up to four characters. The longer it is the less likely it will be memorable.

#### 4. Mint your token.

a. We set every user to have an initial price of $0.00010 and a with an equal amount of 1 billion tokens. This ensures all users start at the same point, and it is clear if a user has a higher price they will also have a higher market cap.

#### Things to Remember:

Minting all your tokens might take a few minutes to complete. Please be patient and contact the team here if you experience any errors.

Also do not forget to have some SOL in your wallet for gas fees.

### Uses of your token

Your user token can be used for a variety of things. Some use cases might be to allow your followers to access exclusive content, to invest in you, or to simply allow your friends to speculate on your price. Some creators might sell their tokens to raise capital, while others might want to give them away as perks for certain actions.

Like we have said, these are your tokens and you are in control of them.

For further instructions on setting up your account, please visit the Tutorials section.

### Understanding Marketcap and user token price

When you first join Kaichi you might be confused by your token price and other users’ market cap/price. This is normal, especially if you aren’t experienced in trading or tokenomics.

#### Marketcap:

The market capitalisation of a user indicates how much their total value for all their tokens is. Since every user begins with the same token price and liquidity pool, the market cap is a direct indication of the overall value of a user on the platform. If the market cap is high, then they must have a lot of demand for their token. If the market cap is low, then they do not.

Finding low market cap tokens might be a fun way to invest early or when a creator is still growing. However, there is often more risk associated with low market cap tokens.

#### Token price:

The token price is simply the price for one of the users’ tokens. Some creators might set a minimum requirement of tokens held for access to their private group chat. This means if you buy the required amount of tokens you will be able to access their group chat. Token price is important because it shows how much you need to spend to gain access to this content or have a stake in a creator on Kaichi.

Don’t forget if you buy a user token you can still sell it in the future (this might be for a profit or loss).

### How to become a top gainer?

Top gaining tokens are listed based on the 24hr change of token price. If your token has a lot of attention and there are a large number of buyers in this period then it might become a top gainer. This is dependent on how other tokens do in this time frame. If you want to become a top gainer then we encourage you to get your audience, or friends to buy your tokens. The best way is to provide great value to your token holders, so they're incentivized to become a holder of your token.

### What if I never want to share content and mainly follow people?&#x20;

That’s fine too! In fact, most people on social media are not participating in terms of creating content, they’re just watching.&#x20;

But you can still have a token, a token price, and a market cap. Your friends can still buy your tokens if they believe in you, and in case one day you decide to share your talents with the world; they will have bought your token before its price increases!

### How can I mint an NFT and how much does it cost?&#x20;

Every user can mint NFTs directly on your own profile page (in the NFT tab).

Minting an NFT on the Solana blockchain costs about 0.00912 SOL in transaction fees, so make sure you have enough SOL in your wallet.
